The shocking massacre took place in Houston, Texas on Wednesday when Ronald Lee Haskell, 33, burst into his former sister-in-law's home disguised as a courier, The Houston Chronicle reports.

After forcing his way inside past the couple's four children Haskell waited until his in-laws arrived and allegedly demanded to know where his ex-wife, who had previously stayed at the home, was.

When Stephen and Katie Stay, 39 and 34, said they did not know Haskell allegedly flew into a rage, tying up all six family members and shooting them in the head.

Fortunately for 15-year-old Cassidy the bullet only grazed her head and she survived.

As her parents and three siblings succumbed to their injuries the sole survivor played dead until the gunman had fled.

As soon as he did Cassidy called police, Harris County Constable Ron Hickman said.

"She was able to provide us the name of the person who shot them, where he was going next," he said.

The girl told them Haskell was going after his ex-wife's parents next and police intercepted him while he was allegedly en route.

After a stand-off Haskell surrendered to police.

He is being held in custody and has been charged with a number of murders.
